One of the signs of passing youth
is the birth of a sense of fellowship
with other human beings
as we take our place among them.
-Virginia WoolfSigh.
Does that mean I've always been a grown up,
or just that I'm getting old?
It's always been very important to me to work towards the greater good, whether at my job as an educator, as a community member, or in the creation of my art…
Much of which is about the interconnectedness of humanity.
In the process of participating in community art projects, I have made 2 life-size fiberglass pigs (one with fiberglass wings) , a rocking chair, a wooden maple leaf, three painted wooden
palettes of varying sizes, a train, three giant bird houses, a life-size, winged, fiberglass dog, a giant wooden cube sculpture, and countless community projects with children. All of these have made the world a tiny bit more fun, and served the purpose of raising money for creative projects for children.
All of this because I believe the arts have the power to empower. To transform and illuminate. To find new answers to the same old questions, which is so desperately essential as we accelerate into the future.
Time to go make some art.
