An Arts, Culture and Cuisine Adventure! Artist Liza Myers refers to this expedition as "A Creative Journey to Peru" to encourage creative thinkers of all interests to join us. Andean culture is alive and thriving. Native weavings, jewelry, painting, musical instruments, performance, foods and wildlife amaze us at every turn in the road. Take the time to fully see, and experience the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the Urubamba River rushes and tumbles through the steep, terraced valleys of the high Andes on its way to the rainforest. The nature of this immersion is intense, but the pace will be as individualized as possible. Within our flexible schedule there will be room for thoughtful culinary, artistic and cultural exploration. Time to draw, paint, write, photograph and/or just BE will be included in each day. The fabulous areas where we'll spend time are chosen for their uniqueness and beauty. We will travel to each location and experience it in an unhurried way. Several days will be spent adjusting to the altitude while savoring the vistas and flavors of Arequipa in southern Peru at 7200 feet altitude. (about the same as Santa Fe, New Mexico Next we'll explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas, along the fabled Urubamba River. Finally we'll ascend from the valley floor into the towering heights of Machu Picchu. Travel within Peru will be by air, by private ground transport and by train. Liza, who is bi-lingual in English and Spanish, will be available for painting consultation, plein air (on site) demonstration and translation. Daily walking tours with Jim Germond are another choice. A certified Peruvian bi-lingual guide will be available, so the possibilities for individualized exploration are tripled.
