The jackrabbit above is an encaustic photo collage which I created in a workshop with Angel Wynn, renowned photographer and encaustic artist in Santa Fe. (And very fun friend.)

The encaustic process calls for melted beeswax, a torch or encaustic iron, soft brushes and oil pigments. It’s a matter of building layer after layer of color. And if you don’t like it you can just scrape it off!

Brilliant!

Since I’ve known Angel she has been a whirlwind of creativity and accomplishment.

I am enchanted by the translucency and texture of the brushed wax. It creates a sense of depth and mystery.

A very exciting thing is that I can work with giclées of earlier work. This one is fun. It’s from a watercolor that I did from a photo by Pete Myers, my MUCH older brother.
