One of my favorite classes to teach is called Elementary Arts for Art Phobic Adults!
It’s really fun for me because I get to help a group of adults play with art materials and in the process discover their talents! We work with many different art mediums: clay, acrylic, pastel, pencil and watercolor and more.

I always ask the participants if they are members of one of the following categories:
1) they never had the opportunity to take an art class
2) They had a mean art teacher
3) There was a designated artist in their fourth grade class and it was not them!
4) Their siblings told them they were terrible artists.

And it’s always true that they have had one or the other of those limiting experiences. My students are always amazed and happy with the great work that they are able to create. And I feel wonderful! It’s a very satisfying process to empower artists of all ages!

Which is why I am working hard to fund Aartz West, a new creative haven and teaching studio in Santa Fe New Mexico where I can continue to share artistic techniques and exploration with eager artists of all ages!

Please check out the Kickstarter campaign for Aartz West. There are lots of fun rewards to choose from, including scholarships for students, reproductions and original art.
There are only 11 days left so check it out lickety split!
